I hope the summer has started well for you? With the Sift sports day coming up (more on that next month!) we’re full of energy and raring to go – which is just as well as we have an awful lot happening right now. Our events are going from strength to strength (see below) and our ICT for Recovery campaign is gathering a lot of momentum too.

Here’s to a great summer..!

Get involved

With the pressure of cutbacks and tightened budgets ICT professionals are faced with growing challenges and expectations. There’s a real threat that ICT investment faces being cut in pursuit of short term budget reductions. With this in mind we've launched the 'ICT for Recovery' campaign to focus entirely on good practice, profiles of ICT professionals, shared experiences, success stories and the transformational capabilities of ICT in the public sector. Get involved now.
BusinessFactory – engage your brand with SMEs BusinessFactory – engage your brand with SMEs
The BusinessFactory is our big event for SMEs and this year is already proving bigger and better than ever with a 25% increase on entries to The Pitch from last year, and a 46% increase in traffic on the event website. In 2009 the event engaged with tens of thousands of small business owners, which was promoted across BusinessZone.co.uk and UKBusinessForums. If you’d like to align your organisation with this sector why not contact us for sponsorship opportunities.
Nominations invited for eGov technology awards Nominations invited for eGov technology awards
The e-Government Awards is the UK's most closely watched public sector technology competition, providing a unique benchmark of quality in eleven categories, covering current IT innovation and best practice technology implementation at all levels of government. Over 480 guests attended last year’s high profile event which was addressed via video link by the former Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Nominations are now being invited and will close on 6 Oct. Shortlist announced following record entries Shortlist announced following record entries
Earlier this week we were excited to announce the shortlist for this year’s Software Satisfaction Awards following a record number of votes. Our congratulations go to those entrants who succeeded in getting through and our commiserations to those that didn’t. The winners will be revealed at the ceremony to be held in London on Thursday 7 October and reservations are now being taken for table places. View the shortlist here.
The Sift Media Blog Inside the mind of Sift Media...
This month we debate the The Times’ paid-for subscription model – it’s certainly not a move we’ll be making, but most publishers will be watching closely. We also look at the effects of the budget on ICT in the public sector and how this sparked off our 'ICT for Recovery' campaign. Finally, marketers have been using the term for quite some time, but we investigate exactly what a ‘social media strategy’ is and what needs to be considered before implementation. Read our blogs.
Campaign tip of the month: The call to action
So you’ve planned your campaign and produced an engaging piece of collateral which you can be confident will engage your audience, but have you focused on your call to action? You have a limited opportunity to get attention and encourage a response so remember to keep it concise, relevant and attention grabbing!
